Adjacent JVM crash via malformed XDF messages

Uncontrolled resource consumption in IBM WebSphere eXtreme Scale 8.6.1.0 through 8.6.1.6 allows remote attackers to crash its JVM. The XDF decoder accepts deeply nested Protocol Buffers messages and attacker-controlled length prefixes without sufficient bounds checks, exhausting stack or heap memory. The attack requires network adjacency and an XIO data grid with XDF enabled through COPY_TO_BYTES; successful exploitation interrupts service from the affected WebSphere Application Server JVM.
