Kernel crash via stale DMA mapping ownership
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
NULL-pointer dereference in the Linux SPI core 6.11 allows attackers to crash the kernel during a partial DMA mapping failure. __spi_map_msg() can leave per-transfer mapping flags set while the current DMA device remains NULL or stale, causing spi_unmap_msg() to release the same or an earlier mapping with the wrong owner. Reachability requires an SPI controller using core DMA mapping and a transfer sequence in which a later TX or RX mapping fails; cleanup can then trigger a kernel oops.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
