Unspecified impact via DAMON context use-after-free
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel 6.16 DAMON mtier sample allows attackers to cause unspecified impact during context shutdown. damon_sample_mtier_stop() frees both contexts after a combined damon_stop() call can fail early, leaving one kdamond thread using freed context, target, and region objects. The flaw is confined to mtier and requires one context to have stopped unexpectedly, such as after a memory-allocation failure; no specific security consequence is published.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
