CVE-2026-89944

Resource leak via unbalanced HDA link reference

Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026

Resource leak in Linux 4.20 and affected Git revisions allows attackers to cause unspecified impact via unspecified vectors. In hdac_hda_dev_probe(), the component-registration error path returns after snd_hdac_ext_bus_link_get() without calling snd_hdac_ext_bus_link_put(), leaving the HDA-link reference unbalanced. The flaw is reached only when ASoC HDA component registration fails; no attacker-controlled trigger or further operational consequence is publicly documented.
