Kernel use-after-free via non-RCU DMA fence release
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
Use-after-free in the IIO buffer subsystem in Linux 6.11 allows attackers to access freed kernel memory during DMA fence release. The iio_buffer_dma_fence_release callback passes iio_dma_fence directly to kfree(), although custom dma_fence release handlers require RCU-safe reclamation. Reachability requires the IIO DMABUF interface and a fence release concurrent with an RCU reader; no further consequence is publicly documented.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
