CVE-2026-89924

Host memory depletion via guest-debug allocation leak

Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026

Memory leak in the Linux KVM s390 guest-debug path allows local users with KVM access to deplete host memory through failed requests. The __import_wp_info() helper allocates old_data for each imported watchpoint, but kvm_s390_import_bp_data() formerly freed only the containing array when a later watchpoint failed. Repeating KVM_SET_GUEST_DEBUG failures can retain up to MAX_BP_COUNT minus one buffers per request, so access to s390 KVM guest debugging is required.
