CVE-2026-89909

Kernel resource leak after failed KVM initialization

Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026

Resource leak in LoongArch KVM in Linux 6.7 leaves kernel allocations and perf callbacks behind after failed initialization. kvm_loongarch_init returns a kvm_init error without calling kvm_loongarch_env_exit, so per-CPU vmcs data, kvm_loongarch_ops, and registered perf callbacks are not released. The condition requires LoongArch hardware virtualization and a KVM module initialization failure; no remote trigger or broader consequence is documented.
