CVE-2026-89895

Memory corruption via duplicate ALSA private-data free

Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026

Double-free in the Linux kernel Cobalt ALSA initialization path causes memory corruption when driver setup fails after card creation. The cobalt_alsa_init error path calls snd_card_free, whose private_free callback releases cobsc, and then calls kfree on cobsc again. The path is reached only when initialization fails after ALSA card creation; public evidence establishes neither attacker control nor a demonstrated crash.
