Resource leak via incomplete probe-failure cleanup
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
Resource cleanup error in the sunxi-cir driver in Linux allows attackers to retain registered rc-device resources after a failed probe. In sunxi_ir_probe(), error paths after rc_register_device() call rc_free_device() without first calling rc_unregister_device(). Reachability requires successful registration followed by failure during IRQ lookup, IRQ request, or hardware initialization; no further security consequence is published.
