Kernel use-after-free via incomplete probe cleanup
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
Resource cleanup error in the Linux saa7164 media driver from 2.6.32 allows attackers to cause unspecified impact after PCI probe failure. saa7164_dev_setup() links a device globally before requesting BAR regions but fails to unlink it when get_resources() fails, after which probe cleanup frees the device. Reachability requires compatible SAA7164 PCI hardware and a BAR allocation failure, leaving a dangling list entry and potentially an unreleased BAR0 region.
