Kernel crash via stale firmware completion
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux 5.15 crashes the kernel when qla2xxx processes a stale firmware status completion. qla_chk_edif_rx_sa_delete_pending() dereferences cmd->sc_data_direction before verifying that GET_CMD_SP(sp) returned a command. The crash occurs in interrupt context and requires the qla2xxx EDIF path plus a firmware completion for an already returned or aborted command.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
