Local use-after-free via concurrent sysfs read
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux qla2xxx driver allows local users to trigger invalid memory access by reading a sysfs attribute during host teardown. qla84xx_put_chip frees ha->cs84xx before scsi_remove_host removes 84xx_fw_version, so its show callback dereferences the stale pointer. Reachability requires a cs84xx-backed adapter and a read concurrent with driver teardown; no further consequence is publicly documented.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
