Livelock via post-release folio size read
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
Race condition in F2FS in Linux 7.0 allows local users to cause a livelock and corrupt page-cache state during invalidation. In f2fs_get_read_data_folio(), f2fs_folio_put() unlocks and releases the large folio before folio_nr_pages() computes the invalidation range, allowing concurrent truncation or splitting to make that range too small. The affected path requires F2FS read-only large-folio support on an immutable file; stale xarray entries can then cause bad page state or a persistent livelock during truncate or reclaim.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
