Out-of-bounds read via overflowing buffer count
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
Integer overflow in Linux kernel AMDGPU VCN parsing allows local users to trigger an out-of-bounds read via a crafted decode message. The vcn_v3_0_dec_msg and vcn_v4_0_dec_msg checks calculate 6 + num_buffers * 4 in wrapping arithmetic, so 0x3FFFFFFF becomes 2 and passes validation. Reaching the faulty loop requires access to the affected AMDGPU decode path and a roughly 4 GiB mapping; no further consequence has been published.
