CVE-2026-89795

Wrong-device reset via shared PCI slot assignment

Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026

Incorrect PCI function reset in Linux allows attackers to reset an unintended device through the s390 hotplug interface. pci_create_slot assigns one pci_slot object to functions in a shared multifunction PCI domain, so slot_reset selects the wrong function and leaves the newly created per-function slot allocation unreleased. Reachability requires s390 hypervisor-managed PCI pass-through, exposed multifunction topology, and invocation of a hotplug slot reset.
