Kernel crash via device-private PMD misinterpretation

A memory-management flaw in Linux 6.19 allows local users to crash the kernel through memory-policy calls on device-private THPs. queue_folios_pmd passes a non-present device-private PMD to pmd_folio, which interprets its softleaf encoding as a hardware PFN and returns a bogus folio pointer. The path requires an HMM-based GPU driver to migrate an anonymous THP into device memory before a local user invokes mbind, migrate_pages, or set_mempolicy_home_node; outcomes include a kernel crash or unintended LRU folio isolation.
