Out-of-bounds read via late length check
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
An out-of-bounds read in Linux starting with 2.6.12 allows attackers to read one UCS-2 element past a supplied limit via unspecified vectors. The ucs2_strnlen() loop dereferences the current element before testing whether the caller-provided maximum length has been reached. Triggering requires a buffer without a NUL terminator inside that bound; the upstream disclosure identifies no attacker-controlled entry point or exposed data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
