Privilege escalation via undisclosed WebRTC mechanism
Published May 19, 2026 · Updated May 19, 2026
Privilege escalation in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird before 151 allows remote attackers to gain elevated privileges via WebRTC handling. Mozilla has not published the wrong operation within the WebRTC Audio/Video component; the referenced security bug remains access-restricted. Exploitation requires user interaction with attacker-controlled network content, and Thunderbird email reading is generally protected because scripting is disabled.
