Kernel crash via cleared primary compressor
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
NULL-pointer dereference in the Linux zram module 6.12 allows local users to crash the kernel through local sysfs operations. zram_destroy_comps() clears every compressor name after a failed disksize_store() initialization, so comp_algorithm_show() later passes a NULL primary compressor to strcmp(). Reaching the invalid state requires permission to configure zram through sysfs; reading comp_algorithm then triggers the kernel NULL dereference and service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
