Privileged out-of-bounds read via short IPv6 address
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
An out-of-bounds read in Linux 6.10 allows local users with CAP_NET_ADMIN to trigger a 12-byte read past an IPv6 socket-address attribute. The nfsd listener_set policy accepts a 16-byte NFSD_A_SOCK_ADDR as bare binary, then rpc_cmp_addr_port, svc_find_listener, and kernel_bind consume it as a longer sockaddr_in6. Reachability requires the local nfsd generic-netlink interface and CAP_NET_ADMIN; the upstream patch reports the read but no data disclosure or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
