Service crash via invalid Web Codecs pointer
Published May 19, 2026 · Updated May 19, 2026
Invalid-pointer denial of service in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird before 151 allows remote attackers to crash Web Codecs processing. Mozilla identifies the Audio/Video: Web Codecs component, but the restricted bug record leaves the exact invalid-pointer operation undisclosed. ESR branches before 140.11 are affected; Thunderbird disables scripting while reading email, so exposure requires a browser-like context, and the published consequence is limited to a service crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
