Invalid kernel memory access via capability-flush race
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
A use-after-free in Linux CephFS kernels before 6.12.109, 6.18.50, and 7.2.4 allows attackers to trigger an invalid memory access. __kick_flushing_caps() drops i_ceph_lock while retaining its current list entry, which handle_cap_flush_ack() can detach and free before iteration resumes. Active CephFS capability flushing and a sufficiently fast MDS acknowledgment are required; no broader confidentiality or integrity impact is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
