Use-after-free via dangling sensor sysfs groups
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
Use-after-free in the HID custom sensor driver in Linux 4.1 and affected later branches allows attackers to cause unspecified impact. During a partial sysfs_create_group failure, hid_sensor_custom_add_attributes returns without deleting groups already attached to the device. Later attribute access follows those surviving groups into the freed sensor_inst->fields array; the failure path and subsequent local sysfs access are required.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
