Kernel crash via USB teardown race
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux hid-sony driver allows attackers to crash the kernel through a GHL dongle disconnect race. An in-flight URB completion can re-arm ghl_poke_timer after sony_remove deletes the timer and drops the URB reference, causing the timer to access its freed driver state. Reachability requires the driver to bind a GHL PS4 dongle and a disconnect or driver-unbind race while the poke URB remains in flight.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
