Privilege escalation via unchecked NTFS run boundary

Memory corruption in Linux before 7.2.4 allows attackers to escalate privileges through a crafted NTFS filesystem image. The ntfs_mapping_pairs_decompress function validates the starting logical cluster number but fails to ensure that the decoded run length remains within the volume. Exposure requires the kernel to decode the crafted mapping-pairs array, after which the out-of-bounds access can corrupt kernel memory and elevate privileges.
