Kernel memory corruption via undersized pointer array
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in the Linux kernel EROFS global-buffer resizer allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory after a failed resize. On an intermediate-size retry, z_erofs_gbuf_growsize allocates a pointer array for the requested page count but copies gbuf->nrpages existing pointers into it. The condition requires an earlier resize to enlarge only part of the global-buffer pool before failing; a same-size retry instead returns ENOMEM and interrupts the operation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
