Kernel interruption via forcedeth off-by-one MMIO access
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
Out-of-bounds access in Linux forcedeth suspend and resume handling allows attackers to interrupt kernel execution during S3 cycles. The nv_suspend() and nv_resume() loops use an inclusive bound, accessing one saved_config_space element and one MMIO dword beyond their mapped ranges. The condition requires a forcedeth device and a suspend or resume transition; ordinary builds show no reported corruption, while CONFIG_UBSAN_TRAP aborts the running kernel path.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
