System deadlock via hard-IRQ lock inversion
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
Deadlock in Linux 6.10 CXL CPER handling allows attackers to hang the system when a GHES error interrupt arrives during work registration. The registration and unregistration helpers hold cxl_cper_work_lock or cxl_cper_prot_err_work_lock with local interrupts enabled, while the hard-IRQ post paths acquire the same lock and spin after preempting its holder. Reachability requires the affected CXL CPER path and a same-CPU GHES interrupt during the narrow lock-held interval; the bounded consequence is a system hang.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
