Kernel double-free via stale tunnel packet pointer
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel's IPv6 tunnel transmitter allows attackers to double-free a packet buffer via unspecified vectors. ip6_tnl_xmit() reallocates and consumes a caller-owned socket buffer, retains only the replacement locally, and can then leave callers holding the stale original pointer. The trigger requires headroom reallocation followed by an encapsulation error; the published patch establishes no higher-level consequence.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
