CVE-2026-89562

Unspecified impact via incorrect tunnel header length

Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026

Incorrect header-length accounting in Linux ip6_gre allows attackers to cause an unspecified impact through an NBMA IPv6 GRE tunnel. ip6gre_tnl_link_config_route() adds the lower device's hardware-header length to hard_header_len even though that value is only later-required headroom; tap and ERSPAN devices also retain a fixed Ethernet header length. Reachability requires an NBMA ip6gre, ip6gretap, or ip6erspan configuration, and the upstream record does not state the resulting security consequence.
