CVE-2026-89557

Unspecified impact via RAID metadata integer overflow

Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026

Integer overflow in Linux md super_1_load() allows attackers to trigger unspecified impact via crafted RAID superblock metadata. The function shifts bad-block sector and count values by an unchecked, disk-supplied bblog_shift, allowing the arithmetic to overflow before badblocks_set() and _badblocks_clear(). Reachability requires loading a version 1.x md superblock with an excessive shift; the upstream disclosure identifies no concrete post-overflow consequence.
