CVE-2026-89553Hinoki check available

Kernel use-after-free via raced VMA lookup

Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel nouveau GEM info ioctl allows local users to trigger a kernel memory-safety violation during a VMA lookup. In the non-UVMM path, nouveau_gem_info finds a VMA without reserving its buffer object, while a concurrent GEM close can free that VMA before its address is read. Exploitation requires local access to the nouveau DRM ioctl and precise concurrency; the upstream record does not establish a crash, privilege gain, or data disclosure.
