RPC request use-after-free via premature buffer release
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
Use-after-free in the SunRPC server code in Linux allows attackers to dereference freed RPC request memory during status enumeration. svc_rqst_free() releases rq_argp and rq_resp before an RCU grace period, while an earlier nfsd_nl_rpc_status_get_dumpit() reader can still reach the request. The race requires request teardown to overlap RPC-status enumeration; the published record states no consequence beyond invalid access to freed kernel memory.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
