Kernel memory corruption via TLS callback race
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
A use-after-free in Linux 6.5 SUNRPC client TLS handling allows attackers to corrupt memory during a handshake timeout or signal. xs_tls_handshake_sync drops the callback-owned lower-transport reference after tls_handshake_cancel loses to a completed request, while xs_tls_handshake_done can still store xprt_err and release that transport. The race requires a timeout or signal to overlap the completion callback; upstream material establishes freed-transport access but no remote control or specific crash or privilege outcome.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
