Local kernel crash via NULL udata dereference
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux 6.17 allows local users to crash the kernel through a crafted RDMA memory-registration ioctl. UVERBS_METHOD_REG_MR omits UVERBS_ATTR_UHW and passes NULL driver_udata to mthca, irdma, or siw code that assumes the structure is valid. The path requires local userspace access to uverbs and one of the three affected drivers; ordinary rdma-core calls do not reach it.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
