Trace corruption via failed remote page swap
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
Memory corruption in the Linux kernel 7.1 allows attackers to corrupt trace ring-buffer state through remote-reader contention. __rb_get_reader_page_from_remote() continues after swap_reader_page() returns -EBUSY and splices the unchanged reader page into the local list as both the old and new reader. The path requires configured remote tracing, a small buffer, and an event storm; the published record identifies no user-accessible trigger or crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
