CVE-2026-89482Network attack vector

Host crash via stale NVMe/TCP receive iterator

Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026

Memory corruption in the Linux kernel NVMe/TCP host driver allows remote attackers controlling a target to crash hosts via crafted C2HData. The nvme_tcp_handle_c2h_data() gate accepts data for WRITE_ZEROES from blk_rq_payload_bytes() alone, then nvme_tcp_recv_data() copies through a residual iterator left on the reused tag. Exploitation requires a connected malicious NVMe/TCP target to return C2HData for that command; the demonstrated consequence is a wild kernel-memory write and host crash.
