CVE-2026-89468

Kernel use-after-free via charger teardown race

Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026

Use-after-free in the LP8788 charger driver in Linux allows attackers to cause unspecified impact during concurrent device removal and IRQ handling. lp8788_charger_remove() flushes charger_work before freeing its IRQs, allowing an IRQ thread to queue work that later dereferences the freed pchg object in lp8788_charger_event(). Reachability requires the LP8788 driver and a precisely timed IRQ during device removal; the record establishes neither trigger privileges nor a demonstrated consequence.
