CVE-2026-89466

Battery metadata disclosure via unterminated firmware strings

Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in Linux allows local users to obtain adjacent battery metadata through power-supply property output. qcom_battmgr_sc8280xp_strcpy copies a full-length firmware string with memcpy but adds no terminator, so string formatting continues into adjacent fields. Reachability requires the Qualcomm SC8280XP battery-manager path and firmware that supplies a field filling BATTMGR_STRING_LEN.
