CVE-2026-89449

Kernel memory leak after failed mock-device registration

Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026

Memory leak in the IOMMU subsystem in Linux 6.17.3 through 6.18 allows local users to consume kernel memory via iommufd test ioctls. The iommu_mock_device_add() failure path calls iommu_fwspec_free(), which releases only fwspec and leaves the outer dev_iommu allocation unreachable. Exploitation requires a kernel built with dangerous, nondefault CONFIG_IOMMUFD_TEST support and access to its ioctl interface; repeated failures consume kernel memory.
