CVE-2026-8936

VM panic via unbounded grpcfuse recursion

Published Jun 2, 2026 · Updated Jun 2, 2026

Uncontrolled recursion in Docker Desktop allows local users to panic its Linux VM by executing low-privileged code inside a container. The grpcfuse kernel module recursively processes a dentry invalidation event for deeply nested directories on a bind-mounted host folder without bounding recursion depth. Exploitation requires low-privileged code execution inside a container and interrupts Docker Desktop by crashing the VM, with no reported data disclosure or modification.
