Authenticated chat transcript disclosure via unchecked thread access
Published Sep 19, 2026 · Updated Sep 19, 2026
Authorization bypass in WordPlus Better Messages 2.15.33 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary chat-room data. The /thread/ REST handler accepts an attacker-selected thread identifier and returns its transcript, metadata, and user details without confirming that the requester belongs to the thread. Custom-level access is sufficient, and exposure occurs only when the room's only_joined_can_read setting remains at its default value of 0.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
