Unauthenticated file deletion via unchecked sideload paths
Published Oct 10, 2026 · Updated Oct 10, 2026
File deletion in rtCamp rtMedia for WordPress, BuddyPress and bbPress 4.7.13 and earlier allows remote attackers to delete files via uploads. RTMediaUploadFile::process selects wp_handle_sideload for supplied file metadata and forwards files[tmp_name] without verifying that the path belongs to an uploaded temporary file. A publicly accessible gallery or upload shortcode exposes the required nonce; deletion is limited to eligible files accessible to the server process.
