CVE-2026-89158Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Process memory corruption via wrapped allocation size

Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in PCRE2 before 10.48 allows remote attackers to corrupt process memory through a crafted 32-bit pattern. pcre2_compile_32 converts a compiled length of 2^30 code units to bytes with CU2BYTES, wraps the calculation, allocates an undersized heap buffer, and writes beyond it. Exploitation requires a 32-bit process, the 32-bit code-unit library, and a carefully formed attacker-controlled pattern; a successful write can crash or further compromise the hosting process.
