Authentication downgrade in miniOrange JWT Authentication for WP REST APIs before 4.8.0 allows remote attackers to bypass configured authentication. A specific GET parameter switches request handling to Basic HTTP authentication without a capability check or nonce verification, overriding configured JWT or API-token methods. No account is required; distinguishable errors and absent rate limiting expose usernames and permit unthrottled credential guessing against WordPress accounts.
