Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped meta keys
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Stored XSS in Surnia Ulula JSM Show Post Metadata before 4.9.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via crafted meta keys. The plugin's SucomUtil::sanitize_meta_key() leaves quote characters in a post meta key, letting the key break out of an inline event-handler attribute. Contributor-level access is required, and execution occurs only when a higher-privileged user reviews the affected post, exposing the privileged account's session.
