CVE-2026-88959Network attack vector

Authenticated privilege escalation via unrestricted user management

Published Sep 10, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026

Improper authorization in Anchor CMS 0.12.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to gain administrative access. The admin user-management route collection checks only for a valid session and CSRF token; its add and edit handlers perform no role or capability check and force the stored role to administrator. An editor or user account can therefore create an administrator or reset an existing administrator's password, yielding full control of the blog.
