Restriction bypass via re-parsed mount options
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
Mount restriction bypass in BusyBox allows local users to disable administrator-enforced protections via command-line options. The mount utility filters parsed flags but then merges command-line options with fstab strings, allowing re-parsing to clear nosuid, nodev, and noexec. Exploitation requires a privileged mount applet and an fstab entry permitting user mounts; affected Red Hat Hardened Images versions remain unverified.
