DHCP-client crash via unchecked IP packet length
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
Integer underflow in udhcpc in Red Hat Hardened Images allows remote attackers on the same network segment to crash the DHCP client. Raw DHCP processing replaces a validated packet length with the IP header's untrusted length without checking the minimum again, so header subtraction underflows and produces an oversized memory copy. Exploitation requires the raw-packet receive path and same-segment access; the reported consequence is client termination and loss of network connectivity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
