Process crash via unstringified numeric cast
Published Sep 28, 2026 · Updated Sep 28, 2026
Denial of service in Perl DBI before 1.654 allows attackers to crash a calling Perl process via numeric SQL_NUMERIC casts. In sql_type_cast_svpv, the SQL_NUMERIC branch passes an IV or NV scalar's string pointer and length to grok_number without first stringifying the value, so an invalid pointer is read. The crash requires a host application to invoke DBI::sql_type_cast on a numeric scalar; exposure to attacker-controlled values depends on that application's call path.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
